Tree Care Primer
Saturday, February 27, 2010 @ 10am
Instructor: David Jones
“If you wait until a child is a teenager to begin training, you are going to have your handsfull!”
Maintenance should begin with proper planting and continue for the life of the tree. Urban trees occupy a different environment than their relatives in the forest, fostering growth patterns that can be both detrimental and unsafe. Compounding potential problems are incorrect tree selection and improper nursery and installation practices. Proper tree care will increase longevity, minimize storm damage, avoid natural failures and enhance property values.
David M. Jones, Jr., Landscape Architect and Arborist, will present an overview on these important issues and discuss pruning objectives and techniques. Questions and answers will offered and a demonstration if time permits.
